Valley Replaces Chimney Chase Top in Naperville

With winter just around the corner and the return of bone-chilling temps, now is an important time to ensure the safe and efficient operation of your chimney and its flue system. After all, you need to be 100 percent certain that everything is in working order before lighting up that first warm and cozy fire.

Valley Chimney Sweep & Restoration was recently called out to Naperville by a homeowner who had been told by his HVAC technician that water was leaking into his chimney via a faulty chimney chase top. When we arrived and conducted a thorough inspection, our certified chimney sweep discovered that indeed there were many issues with the chase top.

First, the furnace flue that was running through the fireplace was not properly connected to the chase top as the connection was rusted out. Secondly, we discovered that a piece used to connect the chimney to the top was also missing correct parts. These are certainly two big problems that could cause moisture to leak into the chimney and fireplace.

As you can see by the photos in the slideshow below, this chase top was not in good shape. So, we set about ordering all new replacement parts to restore this chimney and furnace flue system back to safe working condition.
